April Showers....and January showers, and February showers and.......

Three of my good buddies are all getting married next spring. This means a lot of joy, celebration, getting to spend time with my girlfriends and....planning and attending lots of showers. I'm trying to start planning for my friends Natalie and Katie and have been reminiscing on past showers that I've given or attended. Ranging from elegant ladies' teas and brunches to raunchy lingerie and booze throwdowns, they've all been memorable. Most have been alot of fun, like the one my girlfriends threw for me, where the wine flowed freely and we happily watched our moms all become fast friends...some have been painful, like the Christmas shower held at an ultra-ritzy country club, where Andrew and I sat at a table with the brides' elderly relatives, watching the bride and groom stand in the front of the room uncomfortably opening individual Christmas ornaments for a silent audience.

What makes or breaks a bridal shower? You need good food, a fun crowd, presents and....a certain spark. Something that makes it a little different.

So I've been trying to think of things that could be a little different.....a lingerie shower complete with a belly-dancing instructor?.......a few hours at a pottery studio painting a set of dishes or bowls for the bride?........

Any creative shower suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
