It snowed last night! Okay, it was only about an inch or so but still, it's so beautiful outside! We will usually get a light snow only once or twice a year in Georgia and it only lasts a day or so but it generates major excitement. All the schools close, people go crazy buying milk and bread at the grocery store and radiators at Home Depot, the roadways practically shut down. Atlanta, Georgia does not deal very well with snow.
So I've been home all day enjoying the view out our window. Before Andrew went to work we walked outside together and threw a few halfhearted snowballs. When I was a kid I absolutely loved playing in the snow. While I had breakfast this morning I sat at our kitchen table and watched out the window at our neighbors, two little kids and a mom, building a snowman in their backyard. It looked like so much fun I wished that I was ten years old again, freezing my butt off out in the snow but refusing to come in because it was so fun. We had an itty bitty little hill in our backyard growing up and you could sit on a trash can lid and go "sledding" for about ten feet. Good times.
Now it's about 11:30 at night and the snow has been melting all day. Tomorrow everything will be back to normal. Still, it was nice to have our annual snowday, I think the rarity of it almost makes it magical.
