Tonight I'm meeting some friends to go to a David Sedaris booksigning. I've only been to one booksigning before, a few years ago when the second Bridget Jones book came out, I went to get a copy signed for Natalie's birthday. I remember feeling slightly dorky and groupie-esq while waiting in line but Helen Fielding was really nice.

I listened to an interview with David Sedaris on NPR the other week and in it he talked about being uncomfortable with fans and people gushing over his work. So I'm going to have to try extra hard tonight not to be too complimentary or gushy. I'm picturing just kinda tossing the book at him, all casual-like, and saying something like, "Well, since you're here and I'm here you might as well sign it. If you want to. I mean, I don't really care. Whatever."
