Thanksgiving Resolutions.

- Will blog with increased frequency and enthusiasm.

- Will go to gym for the next month to get jump start on all the suckers who start working out on Jan 1st

- Will try to get into holiday spirit instead of saying "Dammit, I don't have time for Christmas this year!"

On that note, here's something I don't like about my semi-new job - we only get one day off for Christmas. Rather miserly.

In my old firm we closed the office for two weeks and returned in January. It wasn't perfect, we had to work extra time in the previous months to make up for the time off and then one year when the economy was especially bad we were all required to take the time off as either vacation or unpaid leave. Which I remember complaining rather bitterly about. But! We had two glorious weeks off from work. Time to go shopping, time to bake things, time to spend with family and friends. This year I look at the calendar and think "There's no time to do any of this....what's the point?" Which I know, is a terrible terrible way to feel about Christmas.

So....we're getting a Christmas tree this Wednesday and we will decorate while drinking spiked wassail and listening to Vince Guaraldi in the background. Or maybe we'll watch a nice Christmas movie but not "Christmas Eve on Sesame Street" because it always makes me cry, even though it's my favorite. Actually, the "Peanuts" Christmas special makes me cry a little too. And "How the Grinch Stole Christmas", the part at the very end where they're all singing together?

Might be best to just stick with "Scrooged."
