A Design Within Reach showroom opened up in Atlanta recently and, subsequently, there's an email printed out on the office fridge with the offer of $50 off any item over $200.

I met Andrew for lunch earlier and casually mentioned this to him, thinking I'd get the usual death-voiced "No." But! Today he just nodded and said, "Save $50....sounds good to me." Yesssssss! So, hopefully, our den will soon be sporting a George Nelson "bubble" lamp.....specifically the medium Saucer lamp shown above. A classic design circa 1952, I have admired these lamps for a long time. Can't believe I will actually have one hanging from our own little ceiling. Will elevate the style of the whole room! Or, more likely, will just make crappy sofas look even crappier. (they're on their way out of here soon anyway)

Of course, the lamp will officially be considered a Christmas present, along with either a rug or a new french door. We decided not to give each other gifts this year and just buy something for our house instead.

Aren't we so grown-up? It never ceases to amaze me.....
